JOE MORELLE SECURES MAJOR ENDORSEMENT FROM

WORKING FAMILIES PARTY

May 2, 2018 | Press Release

Rochester, NY – Today, Joe Morelle announced that the Working Families Party has endorsed his candidacy for U.S. House of Representatives in the 25th Congressional District.

“Throughout his time in public service, Joe Morelle has been a strong leader on the issues that matter most to our community. Joe isn’t afraid to stand up and fight back against those in Washington who are waging a war on American families—that is why we need Joe Morelle in Congress,” said Jesse Lenney, Western Region Political Director, Working Families Party. “We need Joe Morelle on the front lines fighting to reclaim our nation from the Republicans in Washington who have abandoned working-class families in favor of Wall Street special interests. In Congress, Joe will continue to be the ally and champion for economic, educational and social equality that our community needs and deserves.”

“I am humbled to receive this endorsement. Now more than ever, it is critical that we have leaders who will stand up to extremists in Washington and never lose sight of the fundamental progressive ideals most important to our community,” said Morelle. “Throughout my time in public service, I have been proud to advance policies and proposals that create opportunity for all people—and I will bring that same fight to Congress. The hardworking men and women in Monroe County deserve nothing less.”

Morelle, who currently serves as a state Assemblymember representing the towns of Brighton, Irondequoit and parts of the city of Rochester, has spent a lifetime in public service working to advance the best interests of his community. In the Assembly, Morelle has successfully fought for the passage of legislation to support our working families, including measures to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, protect reproductive freedoms of women, combat and treat the spread of opioid addiction, protect access to critical healthcare programs, and ensure our schools receive the essential support and resources they deserve.

Morelle has also received the endorsement of the Women’s Equality Party and over a dozen labor unions.
